Acne is a skin condition in which your oily hair glands become blocked with excessive oil and other dead cells of your skin. As your skin has tiny pores (holes), which sometimes gets clogged by bacteria, oil, dirt, or even dead skin cells. When this phenomenon occurs, there are high chances of getting spots on the skin or pimple. The prolonged occurring of this phenomenon may give you acne.

Acne not only appears on the face but can also be on your back, neck, shoulder, and chest. But what most people worried about is their outer look and face.

Causes of Acne:
Acne can be caused when the pores on the skin get clogged by excessive oil, bacteria, dirt, or dead skin cells. As your open pores have tiny hairs and oil (Sebum) called the follicle. The open follicle transports oil to the skin surface in order to make it soft and lubricated.
Acne occurs when these open pores get over-lubricated with any of the dead skin, dirt, bacteria, or maybe unnecessary Sebum. This leads to the development of pimples, and then when it lasts long, it gives you acne.
One of the significant causes of appearing acne on your skin can be the hormonal changes specially experienced during teenage years when puberty hits. Acne can also be experienced by adults, but it is most commonly seen in the life years between 16 to 30. The use of hazardous cosmetics and lubricants may also give you acne.
Types of Acne
Not one or two, there are plentiful words you can use for acne and its various types. For Acne Vulgaris, there are six basic types, and those are:
Blackheads are also known as open comedones as the top of the pores remains open, clogged with a combination of Sebum, dirt, and dead skin cells. These can be recognized by their black color appearance on the face, neck, or back. This black appearance is due to the clogged of Sebum that oxidizes at the surface. The main reason for blackheads is that an open-pore gets clogged by the excessive oil build-up or remains of dead cells.
Whiteheads are also called closed comedones as the pores in this remain closed, unlike blackheads. These appear when the sebum and dead skin cells clog the pores. These are recognized as a tiny bump or spot bulging from the surface of the skin. Whiteheads are a little difficult to treat as the mouth of the bump is already closed.
Papules are painful and mostly appear red in color on the surface of the skin. These are formed when the outer boundary of a pore breakdown due to inflammation. These are sometimes also called skin lesions. The cluster of papules on the skin can even from rashes.
Pustules are filled with pus and are formed just like papules, i.e., when the outer boundary around the pore breaks down. The identification of pustules is that they appear with white or yellow heads in the skin.
Nodules appear deeper below the skin when your clogged and swollen pore grow larger and undergo prolonged irritation. Nodules can also happen in the internal organs and needs proper medication to get treated. Their identification is that they are at least 1 centimeter in size, underneath the tissues.
Cysts are the largest form of acne. These are further below the surface of the skin than nodules and appear big red or sometimes white bumps. The spots of cysts are often painful as the formation of these usually occur from infection.
Acne is getting common now in all age groups due to the increased air pollution, intake of unnatural diet, less care of the skin, and many other factors. It is almost impossible to avoid acne, but you can surely lessen the impact and period of acne with proper care, immediate response, and correct knowledge for it.
